Imagine the Refused completely drunk and under the influence of psychoactive substances with a penchant for bands like Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and the like, imagine a room with a stage on which four guys are playing, thrashing, and writhing who don't care at all about the physical integrity of their instrument, now imagine at the foot of the stage a disaster of bodies, screams, mosh pits, beer, and violent dancing, all naturally (mis)managed and (mis)organized by a shady character named Sam Macon, voice and soul of the band, Ladies and Gentlemen, these are Since By Man.

"We Sing The Body Electric" is the debut album (2002) of this quintet from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the label offering them the chance of their life is none other than Revelation Records, a historic Hardcore label already producer of bands like Youth of Today, Sick Of It All, and Gorilla Biscuits.

A few seconds of listening are enough to understand what these five bastards are made of, after a brief intro it goes full throttle with "Push The Panic" and the title couldn't be more fitting, then moving on to songs like "A Kid Who Tells On Another Kid" that somehow recalls the title of the album, there's also room for more calm and as much as possible reflective moments like in the intermediate "Death Of Decadence" and "In Threes" which in its hypnotic pace show an unexpected vaguely electronic tendency, but it's in the sonic degeneration of schizophrenic tracks like "The Enemy" and "Parole En Libertà" that the group finds fertile ground to unleash their most creative vein, authentic stage beasts, slackers, crazy, inspired and angry like few others.

Perhaps the most skeptical will say that with this album they have invented nothing new, and they are probably right, maybe they weren't "cool" enough to earn the covers of glossy trade magazines, but the energy that the five managed to unleash through their delirious performances is just a dream for the mountain of fringes and mascara that overcrowd today's musical landscape, and sorry if that's not enough.
