THE REVIEW

Simple minds draw from the hat an incredible masterpiece: "Black & White 050505".
The album is preceded by the single "Home", a beautiful track, but it doesn't convey the grandeur of this record. But when you take the CD out of its case and insert it into the player, "Stay Visible" starts and a shiver runs down your spine: an eerie keyboard intro and then an explosion of rhythm and guitar with a divinely singing Kerr. They move as fast as a train through the already mentioned "Home" (with an essential rhythm section that pulses excitingly in the pit of the stomach), "Stranger" and "Different World" (with a formidable synth backdrop), the ballad "Underneath The Ice" (where the instruments act as a backdrop to a very sensual Kerr), "The Jeweller Part II" (the remake of "Jeweller To The Stars", contained in the unpublished "Our Secrets Are The Same"), "A Life Shot In Black & White" (with a keyboard intro and with electric guitar gradually taking over in the background), "Kiss The Ground" and finally the superb "Dolphins" with strongly orchestral and captivating nuances.
The rhythm section is once again excellent, and one must not only congratulate Mel Gaynor, as his skill is known to everyone, but also Eddy Duffy, really a great discovery after the appetizer offered in Our Secrets Are The Same.

Sometimes suddenly, without any specific reason, you find your way again.

The 9th track Dolphins is simply stunning, it goes straight to your heart and leaves you breathless and speechless.
