LA RECENSIONE

After leaving behind the "Sparkle In The Rain" tour and the blow of the legendary bassist Derek Forbes' departure, Simple Minds' studio activity gave birth to "Once Upon A Time", the most discussed album due to so-called commerciality.
But what does commercial album mean? I've never understood it! Certainly, the sounds are lighter, more catchy, more polished, but the keyboard/guitar duets in the title track, the power of "Ghostdancing" full of syncopation, the melodic keyboard of "Alive and Kicking", the evocative "Oh Jungleland", the overwhelming "Sanctify Yourself" and Kerr's very sensual voice make it an album, certainly of transition, but of considerable depth.
The tour that will follow "Once Upon A Time" will be massive and will culminate in the recording of "In The City Of Lights," a double live album that achieved remarkable commercial success, being the third live album in music history to reach the number one spot on the charts
