I don't know how many of you have read my review on Mirkoeilcane.

Simone Barotti comes from the same school. That Roman one, made of live performances in the right venues, of collaborations (Mirkoeilcane played the guitars on his first album) and small labels that ultimately can't really make a big impact.

It must be said that unlike others, Simone has a much richer background. I'm talking about long theater tours where his revisited songs served as the soundtrack to shows with texts by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, complete with a flutist, double bass player, and guitarist, and him on vocals... all strictly live.

Shows with the intense Rosalba Di Girolamo (a highly acclaimed Neapolitan actress!) who intertwined her voice with Simone's singing voice. In short, not a walk in the park!

And then opening Tosca's concerts (!!) and the Roman comedian Antonio Giuliani who strongly wanted him in his shows as a starter for a long period.

Simone also starred in a musical titled "1988" and released two EPs, one in 2014 and one in 2017. Then he followed up with singles, one in 2019 and one in 2021.

Every time, according to the data, he quietly amasses downloads and streams ("Amami da ora," a 2021 track, reached position 36 of the most downloaded tracks on iTunes and achieved almost 1500 purchases in total).

But allow me to say, despite looking at this talented guy with respect, I believe he is a clear example of how character and choices influence one's path.

And if the NO said after passing the X-Factor selections surprised everyone a bit in 2008, the continuous change of musical style and evidently not the simplest character did the rest.

Because, if you listen to his discography, you're left speechless.

You go from rock to romantic ballads in duet (one with Melissa Camponeschi, former Amici di Maria...) up to the reggaeton of 2021.

And now the new single coming out on September 24th, but with a video released a week earlier without any announcement(?!).

Yes, you understood correctly.

The song is a reinterpretation between Jazz and Swing of the hit GIMME MORE by the controversial pop star Britney Spears. Completely transformed.

A splendid Hammond piano in the central bridge and the colorful chorus play in the refrain give life to a song I have never loved, making it dignified.

I'm pointing it out because I already intended to talk about this guy and also because I was pleasantly surprised by the listen.

I still believe that he, like many others, could give much more to music if they were followed and directed in a different way.

But you know, if you don't accept the turmoil of reality, it's very difficult to make a name for yourself.

The video is the classic struggle between multiple personalities, with decent special effects showing three facets of the protagonist dealing with a somewhat troubled awakening.
