Second album after "Carnavas" by Californian band Silversun Pickups.
Well... if you liked the first one, this is much better.
Very few fillers. One or two at the most. But that's subjective. You might like everything from the first to the last track.
It's truly an album to have. Especially for someone like me who still hasn't understood why Slowdive broke up and turned into two bands like Mojave3 and Monster Movie whose sum would have amazing results today.
Even though it's true that in rock, almost never does 2+2=4; often it makes 3 or even less.
Anyway, let's talk about "Swoon".
Ten songs. As I was saying, at least 8 are potential high-level singles.
The echoes heard during the listening don't always bring back to "shoegaze."
"Getting Older..." is more reminiscent of the best "Prefab Sprout" of "Steve McQueen".
"The Royal We" has echoes of the best Jackson of "Thriller". These are just echoes mind you, Silversun Pickups are something else.
Perhaps it's the vocalist who has a high tone that reminds of it.
I wish someone else would also share their opinion on this.
Everything else is rock and roll, as it can be done in 2009.
In the end, that's what we're talking about, without too many labels that only serve to diminish talents that come to us unexpectedly.
Just when we thought rock and roll was dead.
