Silverchair are an Australian rock band formed in 1992. Members include Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou; they rose to international fame as teenagers with the 1995 debut Frogstomp and the single "Tomorrow."

Early work (Frogstomp, Freak Show) drew frequent comparisons to Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. By Neon Ballroom and Diorama the band incorporated orchestral arrangements and more experimental/art-rock elements.

Three DeBaser reviews show mixed reactions to Silverchair's early and mid-career albums. Critics repeatedly compare the band's early sound to Seattle grunge acts. Frogstomp is noted as a remarkable debut by teenagers propelled by the hit "Tomorrow." Later work (Neon Ballroom, Diorama) is described as more orchestrated and mature.

For:Fans of 1990s grunge and alternative rock; listeners interested in critical perspectives on Silverchair.

Sycophants, brazen robbers, wave-riding surfers of stolen currents, yet still likable, these Australians at their debut, dated 1995.

Stay away men, this 1996 record is just another attempt by record companies to exploit once more (and already back then we were fed up) the so-called grunge gold mine.
