THE REVIEW

Waiting, in just under a month, for their next concert, here is what the evening of July 26 in Milan was to me...
Sigur Rós in Villa: Closed Within Parentheses

A white veil between us and them, a suspended and electrifying breath waiting for the first notes. Shadows, reflections give rise to luminous music, a thunderous applause, the Sigur Rós.
They open with the new pieces from what "Takk…" will be, come September, their fourth album.
Chills, breath quickened but not labored, rather liberating, it tastes of beauty, it feels like being suspended.
After the initial applause for the new pieces ("Takk" and "Glosoli"), it’s "Ny Batterí"’s turn and then the song that celebrated them to the world, moments of silence… "Svefn-g-Englar" is an applause of emotion, its execution is perfect, Jónsi's voice is crystal clear, he is an almost alien figure in a world of ‘aliens’...?
Heart rate increases, these are things you cannot control… surrendering to sensations and beauty is the only right thing to do.
By now I am no longer at Villa Arconti, they have transported me to a place of peace and silence.
A blow from within, shivers on the skin and tears, "Vaka" is for me the highest moment of the concert, I tremble and feel light, I close my eyes, only Jónsi's voice… just that abstract music
Six minutes of emotion where everything vanishes, where there is only beauty.
After the sensory delirium with "Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa", drumbeats… a guitar… "Olsen Olsen" is a flow of light, I feel it, I see it, I make it mine.
For me, it is a dreamlike experience, something so unique, it’s no longer just a concert.
Almost two hours of music, two hours in an embrace I never wanted to end.

An angelic voice, strings and violins soaring, drum beats like sighs and distortions like moans.
A seventeenth-century villa and four people from Iceland
, a moving and intense ten-minute applause at the end, the only currency to repay them.
The northern wind has never been so warm…
