Rome has always had an edge when it comes to hardcore, despite the ever-competitive collectives like those in Milan and Bologna. Indeed, there are countless bands from the capital that have managed to emerge one way or another, reaching recognition even beyond national borders (recent examples include To Kill and Strength Approach). I hold the same hope for Short Fuse, active since 2014 with a demo and an EP under their belt. It's precisely about the latter that I'll be discussing in these lines, a mini album that is decidedly robust both in the number of tracks (seven) and in approach. They indeed follow what Bridge Nine has popularized in recent years concerning hardcore, that is, tracks that rarely exceed three minutes and focus entirely on adrenaline, speeding along a track that naturally leans heavily on the "heavy" side in terms of sound and features an "in your face" vocal style perfectly executed here by their frontman Andrea. Artists like Bane, Comeback Kid, Have Heart, and Champion are undoubtedly the artistic reference points for Short Fuse, which is fairly typical if you follow this musical vein that tends to give its best in live settings. A pleasant record that deserves the attention of those who make hardcore their musical faith.
