Shining

Shining is a Swedish black metal band formed in 1996 by Niklas Kvarforth. Revered for codifying depressive/suicidal black metal with early pillars I and II, the group later embraced cleaner production and wider palettes—acoustic and piano passages, doom inflections, black’n’roll/thrash edges. Notably, Hellhammer handled drums on III, helping mark the shift to a more mature, articulate sound.
