A quirky Eastern from South Siberia, shot among the Sayan Mountains by the great Lithuanian master Šarunas Bartas, clad in only images and no dialogue, set among what would be the local natives, the Tofalari, somewhat akin to a Native American tribe and among whom arrives a mysterious woman who is very tough, very well put together but also very troubled, it is unclear what she is doing there or what her tasks or intentions are; a slow and prolonged Zen exercise, for restless souls, among whom I finally count myself. For lovers of Dersu Uzala, a must-see, sans doute, indeed.
