What to say about this album, the first of the 2 twins? Nominated for 5 Latin Grammy Awards? Nothing special, but sentimental and catchy, and with that touch of sensuality that Latin artists possess.
'En tus pupilas' the first song, besides the base has only a short guitar chord, focusing attention on the rhymes, which, jokes aside, are very beautiful, also mixed with French. Even more beautiful, and the best on the album, in my opinion, is 'La pared', which starts slowly, then intensifies the percussion in the chorus, which I repeat is wonderful, sung in Shakira's unique low register, in a breathy, agitated manner, where binary and ternary meter mix over the beautiful concluding solos of the song. 'La tortura', super famous worldwide, introduces the coordinates of Latin music that Shakira doesn't intend to accentuate, always maintaining a slow pace focused on romantic melody. 'Obtener un sí' follows the melody of 'La pared' but isn't as beautiful, even though Shakira raises the register.
'Dia especial' another melodic ride, is a more languid song, always close to the melody of 'La pared', while 'Escondite Inglés' is a beautiful song, always slow and marked by acoustic guitar; beautiful lines first restrained and cautionary then romantic and finally extended in the frenzied chorus. No. 7, 'No' is also marked by guitar, the chorus is spectacular which I report: 'No se puede vivir con tanto veneno, la esperanza que me da tu amor no me la dio' más nadie, te juro no miento / no se puede vivir con tanto veneno, no se puede dedicar el alma a acumular intentos, pesa más la rabia que el cemento'. I don’t report the other songs because I think the idea can't be further clarified by me.
I recommend the CD to everyone and conclude.
No one criticizes the beautiful 'en tus pupilas' or the poignant 'no' but a song like 'escondite inglés' says little to me.
If in the first volume the other tracks, except 'no' and 'obtener un si', are rather bland while in the second volume the other unreleased tracks are much more colorful and engaging.
