Members met at the architecture faculty in Atlanta and formed Seely. In 1996 they released an album for a local label (Third Eye Records, Ted Selke); later the London label Too Pure became involved and the album Julie Only was re-recorded with John McEntire before release.

Origin: Atlanta; initial local release on Third Eye Records (Ted Selke); Too Pure involvement; Julie Only was re-recorded with John McEntire.

The review describes Seely's Julie Only as a strange, post‑rock album packed with guitar effects and notable drums. Many ideas appear but are rarely fully developed, producing a sense of continuous expectation. The record was re‑recorded (with John McEntire involved) after earlier label disputes.

For:Listeners of post‑rock and 90s experimental guitar music; fans of production details and drum work.

It\u0027s a rather strange album, packed with guitar effects, almost a catalog of pedals, but it almost never ventures into the wall typical of shoegaze.
