THE REVIEW

Seabear are yet another Icelandic band and "The Ghost That Carried Us Away" is yet another pop album released by Morr.

We could stop here and assume, with a small margin of error, that we are facing a work that is more or less sufficient, pleasant, and nothing more. Instead, listening to this first official album by Seabear is a true surprise to discover that it is a work of good quality.

The initial listenings already reveal impressive traces of pop with folk undertones and hints of electronics, although the latter are only slightly hinted at (and Morr needs to come to terms with that). It seems like listening to a mixture of Belle & Sebastian, Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, fellow countrymen Mum and Benny Hemm Hemm (also Icelandic and a brilliant discovery by Morr), all blended together and served on a warm and colorful early spring morning.

All 12 tracks that make up the album flow pleasantly fast and urge the listener to press play again and let themselves be carried away by the delightful melodies of this debut band. A good (official) debut, then, with the hope that Morr discovers a thousand more of these bands and that Seabear repeats themselves and soon.
