The Scorpions, a band founded in 1965 in Hannover by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, are one of the most famous and beloved heavy metal bands still active on the scene today. Yes, because after more than 40 years of career, the scorpions are not yet tired of rocking stages around the world (as seen in their performance at the Gods of Metal in 2007).
In 2001, Klaus Meine and company decided to record a live fully acoustic concert. Many might wonder, "And where will the typical Scorpions sound go? The distorted guitars and all their power?" Indeed, this is a very unique experiment and the result does not disappoint at all. In this live performance, we discover a band that adapts brilliantly to acoustic scores featuring orchestra, mandolins, and other instruments completely foreign to the Germans' sound. Yet many songs seem completely renewed and refreshed. They are performed, in some cases, even better than the originals. Naturally, the best results are those that lend themselves most, in the Scorpions' repertoire, to an acoustic presentation (such as "Send me an Angel", "Wind of Change", and "Life is too Short"), but even old typically metal anthems like "Rock me Like a Hurricane" can reveal unexpected surprises.
A very special album that naturally is not recommended for those who are beginning to get to know the Scorpions, but for those who want to discover and explore new, vast, and surprising territories of Schenker & co.
