The Profile

Scorn is the British electronic project led by former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris, originally formed with Nik Bullen in Birmingham in 1991. Early releases mixed industrial/metal with bleak ambience; the project soon pivoted toward heavy, minimalist dub and dark ambient. Justin Broadrick guested on the debut Vae Solis. Key releases include Colossus, Evanescence, Gyral, Greetings From Birmingham, Café Mor and The Only Place.

Founded by Mick Harris (ex-Napalm Death), initially with Nik Bullen; Justin Broadrick guested on Vae Solis. Evolved from industrial/metal textures to heavy dub and dark ambient; Public Image Ltd cited as an influence in reviews. Active from the early 1990s onward and based in the UK.

Three DeBaser reviews chart Scorn’s evolution from industrial/grind roots to heavy, minimalist dub and bleak ambient. Vae Solis is hailed as an apocalyptic, genre-transcending statement; Colossus as a black, hypnotic milestone; Evanescence as a pinnacle of precision and innovation. The consensus is unequivocally laudatory.
