I picked up this "...Is A Real Boy" dazzled by the beauty of the single taken from the album, "Alive With The Glory Of Love", a song that in my humble opinion was a small masterpiece.
After listening to the LP in its entirety multiple times, I concluded that Say Anything has talent to spare and that this is an album not to be missed, especially for fans of the genre, which is basically nothing more than Rock, or maybe Indie/Rock, but who cares in the end.
Perhaps it's due to Max Bemis's magnificent performance behind the microphone, perhaps it's because of the incredible energy unleashed by the guitar-bass-drums trio, perhaps it's the intelligent, amusing, touching lyrics: or maybe it's for these reasons or something else, but this is an outstanding album.
"I worry about how this album will sell,
because I believe it will determine
the amount of SEX I will have in the future..."
from "Admit It!!!"...
Thirteen tracks with a deep and varied structure, made sparkling by a decidedly above-average dose of catchy refrains and big choruses, complex yet at the same time irresistible even on the first listens.
There's never a dull moment, there's no smell of "fillers," it always travels at very high levels with numerous peaks of absolute excellence, among which I must mention "An Orgy Of Critics", "Admit It!!!", "Woe", "Every Man Has A Molly", and the already mentioned "Alive With The Glory Of Love".
Exceptional album: get it and you won't regret it.
