I Santo Niente return with an album that, to be honest, does not meet expectations. On one hand, the songs have a more singer-songwriter feel, especially in the lyrics, but on the other, it's clear that this is not where you should look for the distinctive compositional vein present in the best works of Umberto Palazzo's group. "La vita è facile", "Sei na ru mo'no wa na 'i" and "Crossfader" were on a whole different level. Don't get me wrong: "I fiori dell'agave" is a good album, pleasant to listen to, but it lacks the ability to adequately engage the listener, especially considering we're talking about one of the most established bands from what was the C.S.I. circuit.

Indeed, I Santo Niente were born under the protective wing of Ferretti and his associates, and they've not lost that appeal, but it seems to be fading over time. The best songs are "Prima della caduta", "Nuove cicatrici", and "Candele", the latter being short but immensely poetic. What can I say, neither a total disappointment nor does it shine with infinite joy after listening to this album. I do believe, however, that this latest work will be suitably enriched and improved by the excellent live performance of the Bologna band, which has accumulated extensive live experience over the years. Give it a listen: it's worth it, believe me.
