1999: The guitar of the legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, returns to gift us with magical notes.
In the very first track "Yaleo", the unmistakable notes that come from the strings of the legendary 'mustache' seem like thin and sharp rays of sunlight that strike our chest, warming it immediately. It's a very sunny track that brings us to a Latin atmosphere, cheerful and danceable. The second track "Love Of My Life" is a duet with Dave Matthews, poignant and sadder than the first, one of the best pieces of the album. In collaboration with Everlast, the third track "Put Your Lights On" is fantastic, a deep and low voice, accompanied by well-defined and slow riffs of classical guitar, along with the usual unmistakable notes of Carlos's electric guitar.
More Latin rhythms in the fourth track "Africa Mamba". Very rhythmic brass and percussion in the fifth track "Smooth" with Rob Thomas. The sixth track "Do You Like The Way" leaves me somewhat surprised, a hip-hop sound accompanied by Santana's guitar licks, the result is not bad. 'Alma Latina' in its purest form in the beautiful "Maria Maria". However, the best guitar solos are found in the ninth track: "Corazon Espinado", with a spectacular introduction. Still very beautiful, the tenth track "Wishing It Was", with a calm and enveloping rhythm, and a splendid chorus, sung by the warm voice of Eagle-eye Cherry.
Moving and reflective is the eleventh track (instrumental): "El Farol". Very sunny, urgent, and engaging is the twelfth: "Primavera". The album closes with the most important and awaited duet: "The Calling" with Eric Clapton. Twelve minutes of splendid back and forth of the notes coming out from the guitars of the two artists, with constant rhythm changes during the song, really not bad.
Excellent work, an inspired and in top form Santana!
