SAIAN SUPA CREW-“X-RAISONS” SOURCE/VIRGIN. After a debut, as they say, "explosive," the charming Parisian crew has not lost their skills. Saian manages to be an almost impeccable synthesis between the sonic imagery of Aliance Ethnik and that of the Orishas, just to be clear. The six MCs share a sense of flow that can at times startle the listener. The lyrical digressions draw an absolutely unique rhythmic line, and the play of counterpoints between rap and beats makes the listening experience very enjoyable. X-Raisons glides effortlessly, pulling along with it hip hop, salsa, dancehall reggae, and true street cabaret episodes. They unleash rhymes over sounds from the suburban casbah. They sing gleefully over thick Parisian nu-latin funk bases. Certainly, they will be a delight for many with their second album, which is also rich with lyrical peaks. The sharp and captivating Polices, the insane and triumphant progression of Maladie, the gritty jazz of the title track are episodes that surely justify the purchase of X-Raisons. Yes, this second album by Saian Supa is a great record. After all, they have a gift, that of knowing how to create an urban sound with strong exotic traits. A gift that not everyone has... or do they? Respect.
