Unusual review for me, I admit, but this album deserves a "listen". Sagi Rei, for those who don't know (and I confess that until a few weeks ago, I didn't know either), is an Israeli singer who immigrated to Italy and lent his voice to some dance tracks by Fargetta and the Brothers. Today, he is an interpreter (really talented) of '90s dance classics in acoustic version, and this is where my interest piqued. I'm not a dance enthusiast as you might gather from my reviews, but this particular case intrigued me quite a bit.
Pleasant album, made of excellent performances, the songs are genuinely tastefully arranged, and the dance melody - 6 strings combination doesn't disappoint at all, and the tracks end up being very catchy and engaging, obviously if you already liked the original melody.
Among the "classics" of dance, there are major hits like "Rhythm Is A Dancer", "Wrap Me Up", "Freed From Desire", and "What Is Love", which you will surely remember, as you couldn't help but hear them on the radio, and somehow (as always happens in music) listening to them again takes you back to those times. In short, a pleasant listen to broaden the musical horizons of someone like me who usually listens to quite different things, and moreover, it represents an excellent idea to show how one can enhance a piece sometimes considered "commercial" or purely diverting, danced just enough before being retired.
Therefore, credit to Sagi Rei (or whoever had the idea) for having brought these songs from 10/15 years ago back to life. I don't give it a 5 because, in my personal opinion, it's still an album where covers are performed, not original tracks, so I judge the execution, arrangements, and interpretation excellently, but I cannot give the maximum score as there is no inventiveness, except in adapting songs originally conceived one way into another arrangement different from the original.

05 Rhythm Is a Dancer (03:13)
Rhythym is a dancer,
it's a soul's companion,
you can feel it everywhere
Lift your hands and voices
free your mind and join us
you can feel it in the air
Ooh, it's a passion
Ooh, you can feel it in the air
Ooh, it's a passion
Ooh, ooh, ooh, oh
