A horrendous genius of evil, pathetic, disgusting, and revolting... but what laughs at the end of the movie!

Prerequisite: I recommend this film to everyone, absolutely everyone. It’s horrendous and if you feel like wasting precious time of your life, watch it. The director Sacha Baron Cohen is a man nearly in his forties, actually quite attractive, a British comedian much appreciated and despised at the same time. Perhaps you’ll remember him from films like "Borat," or "Ali G," and appearances such as in "Sweeney Todd."

In this film, he plays the role of Bruno, Austrian homosexual with an obsession to become famous and the only way to achieve that is to go to America, or rather the USA. Obviously, he doesn't have a shred of talent and to attract the attention of the masses he can only stoop to the levels of idiocy noticeable in the current world population from the likes of Big Brother, Wrestling, or Fame Academy and other junk TV.

Sacha proposes the unproposable, destroys everything, and the worst part is that very often, ultimately, he is right: we are ignorant and indifferent. I must admit it was thanks to a friend that unlike "Borat," I managed to get to the end of the film (and also thanks to the chocolate-covered popcorn that lured me into the trap).

What I want to say is that I feel disheartened. This type of film is obviously meant to be provocative, it can make you vomit and scandalize, but that’s its intent. It absolutely doesn’t have to be liked, the point is not to be liked but as much as possible to be disliked.

I started off biased, I already knew what to expect from this other Cohen and yet I think I've understood something. It delivered a message to me even if I didn’t get it immediately.

People want to be mocked, ridiculed, and possibly offended. When they see humiliation on television it’s as if they desire it. They do anything to participate in staged programs, at the cost of their pride but for the sake of their image. Because the image can be seen by everyone and broadcast on the screen and be, for a while, on the other side, where life is punctuated by recorded laughter and prompted applause. A life by script, which cannot entail risks and does not make you think of anything and fills that sensation of emptiness with the certainty that finally someone, even if only for a short time, will pay attention.

Enjoy the movie, and if you find it disgusting, stay calm because it’s perfectly normal.
