Fis for Fight is the first album by Sabaton, released in 2001. The rawness of a group of 20-year-olds is highly evident; the sounds seem randomly put together, yet this is not the case. Although there are indeed few songs from this album that remain in a personal Sabaton top playlist, this is generally the case with tracks like Hellrider, The hammer has fallen, and especially, Masters of the world. It must be said that the musical direction leans towards traditional power metal; the themes of war and sound clarity, often distorted by the strength and heaviness of the instruments, especially the guitars, are yet to be fully developed. The ripest element in need of development, however, is Joakim Brodèn's voice, which tends to scratch through the throat while still giving it the necessary power, his characteristic element, but allowing his ability to manage high and low tones and volumes to be appreciated.
As a rating, I give it a 6+, appreciating especially the timelessness of the lyrics from which they restarted for subsequent developments.
