Hello,

I've finally decided to join this wonderful community and I'm starting by sharing my thoughts on the latest studio work from my beloved Canadians, while I find time for other reviews. When it comes to Rush, expectations are always sky-high. I must say that after several listens, I still cannot rate this work. Despite the usual sensational technical performance, the production and composition don't fully convince me. But since when do Rush do metal ballads? Someone might say forever, if you're thinking of "Closer to the Heart," the only or almost authoritative example of the genre: "The Garden" is a beautiful song, but from Rush, I expect something less obvious. The same goes for "Halo Effect." "Caravan," "Clockwork Angels," and "The Anarchist" are the tracks that draw me in the most. Even here, though they "stick in your head like peanut butter," to quote Layne Staley, they only make me think that we are far from "Hemispheres," "Moving Pictures," and their other masterpieces from the 70s and, why not, the 80s.

That said, Geddy Lee is always the Bassist of God, and I will never stop loving the professionalism, expertise, and tireless vitality of these three giants. I can't wait for the mystery of Neil Peart's retirement to be solved and to eventually see either a new album or hopefully have them remember that Europe isn't so bad for some live dates.
