Run-D.M.C. are an American hip-hop group from Hollis, Queens, formed in 1983 by Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell. Pioneers of the new school, they pushed a tougher sound and helped forge the rap-rock crossover, especially with Raising Hell (1986) and the Aerosmith collaboration Walk This Way.
