The Roxette had reached the mid-'90s and decided to create an album in Spanish for Spanish-speaking markets, selecting a series of tracks from 'Look Sharp!' (the one with 'Listen To Your Heart') to the recent 'Crash! Boom! Bang!' (the one with 'Sleeping In My Car').
Thus we have 'Spending My Time' ('Un día sin ti'), 'Crash! Boom! Bang!' (eponymous), 'Run To You' ('Directamente a ti'), 'It Must Have Been Love' ('No sé si es amor'), 'I’m Sorry' ('Cuanto lo siento'), 'Vulnerable' ('Timida'), 'Listen To Your Heart' ('Habla el corazón'), 'Watercolours In The Rain' ('Como lluvia en el cristal'), 'Fading Like A Flower' ('Soy una mujer'), 'I Don’t Want To Get Hurt' ('Quiero ser como tú'), 'Queen Of Rain' ('Una reina va detrás de un rey'), and 'Perfect Day' ('El día del amor').
The original music was retained in these songs, with lyrics that fit perfectly, in two cases even improving on the originals ('Run To You' and 'I’m Sorry').
Moreover, Marie Fredriksson's pronunciation is impeccable, approaching perfection (this can't be said much for Per Gessle who sings 'Timida').
During the last years of high school (2001-2002), a friend of mine who was passionate about the group's songs lent me their entire discography: between Genoa and Calabria, where I have my holiday house, one of the few albums that accompanied my existence was this one.
After many years I returned to their songs, but Mary has left us...
I miss moments like those, 2001-2002, a little.
