It's never too early to start listening to good music.
This must have been the thought of the brilliant creators of the series "Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions..." who had the wonderful idea of adapting classic rock songs and turning them into sweet instrumental lullabies for the little ones. Among the numerous artists who have undergone this treatment (AC/DC, Metallica, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the list is very long) are also Nirvana.
It must be said that it's quite an experience to listen to songs that have made rock history like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in a "music box" version, but the result is highly sophisticated. Every single note, faithfully reproduced, is enriched by sound effects that verge on the psychedelic, thanks to the use of xylophone (the main instrument), glockenspiel, mellotron, and vibraphone, which transform Nirvana's rough and gritty rock into graceful harmonies that relax and, at the same time, almost hypnotize.
The project was expressly created to help newborns fall asleep, but it's also appreciated by those over two years old who grew up with these songs. It's an opportunity to turn the hourglass of time and go back to when we also sucked our thumb in our cradle, while mom sang to us "Stella stellina, la notte si avvicina, la fiamma traballa, la mucca è nella stalla etc..". Who knows how these fortunate (?) infants will grow up, falling asleep to the delicate yet somewhat eerie atmospheres of these "baby Nirvana."
Will they become musical geniuses or remain traumatized for the rest of their lives?
The verdict is for posterity to decide.
