THE REVIEW

Even with the simple selection of the 4 albums released for A&M (thus without the classic Fegmania!) a much better compilation could have been assembled: many of the unreleased tracks are second and third-rate rejects (nadir the barely sketched-out cover of Roxy Music's "More Than This").

The quality of the 1993 b-sides confirms the particular success of the Egyptians' latest sonic experimentation, with or without Hitchcock's consent; for the rest, we console ourselves with some gems ("She Doesn't Exist", "Madonna of the Wasps", "So You Think You're in Love" the must-haves).

If my ear doesn’t deceive me, in the negligible "Dark Green Energy" besides Peter Buck, Michael Stipe himself makes an appearance; shameful the absence of "Arms of Love", misleading the diachronic criterion.
