Roberto Rossellini

Italian film director and key figure of Italian neorealism. Achieved international recognition with Roma città aperta (1945), followed by Paisà (1946) and Germania anno zero (1948). In the 1950s he collaborated with Ingrid Bergman on films including Stromboli, Europa ’51, and Viaggio in Italia. Later he focused on historical and educational works for television such as La presa del potere da parte di Luigi XIV.
