Robert Anson Heinlein (1907–1988) was an American science fiction author, one of the major figures in 20th‑century SF. He served as a naval officer and left the Navy due to pulmonary tuberculosis before becoming a prolific writer.

Heinlein won Hugo Awards for Double Star, Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. His early novel For Us, The Living was written in 1938-39 and published posthumously in 2004.

Two DeBaser reviews discuss Heinlein's major novels and recurring themes: political and social ideas, libertarian views, and inventive SF tech. Reviews praise The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress and Starship Troopers and note The Door into Summer's charm. Podkayne of Mars is highlighted for its female protagonist.
