Let's start with the most classic of considerations: what's the use of a three-track mini album?! Not much, they are a palliative, something you throw into the market to create some hype while waiting for the album release.
A "formula" that might be acceptable in the case of a well-known band (but it's not guaranteed, given the times, spending even just five euros for three tracks could be quite an affront to the current Technical Government), but if we're talking about an underground name, well, doubts about this kind of initiative are more than legitimate. An introduction that allows us to tackle this "EP" by Rivelardes (a spot-on title, to say the least), a band from Brescia that after the release of their previous work in Japan and a release on Indiebox, an independent label, seems to have found its artistic creed in pop-punk. A "creed" made up of catchy tunes, easy listening vocals, and a few good ideas that will be appreciated especially by those who usually listen to Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, and Simple Plan, artists who have greatly influenced Rivelardes in terms of style. While it may be a hard-to-judge work that adds nothing new to the genre, we can admit that the final result is pleasant, achieving the goal of being listened to without too many expectations, making fifteen minutes pass without repeated yawns.
Surely there are points to work hard on, primarily the vocal parts - well-crafted but not as effective as they should be – and lastly, a greater choice of guitar solutions. A tribute to fans and nothing more, we await the new album to understand what this 2012 Rivelardes are made of.
