LA RECENSIONE

I want to write something about Rino Gaetano too, in addition to Vasco, Queen, Pink Floyd, Clash, etc...
I wanted to talk about the "talking cricket", a legend for me, also thanks to his simplicity and the way he said things, even the most delicate ones, with an irony that only he knew how to use at the time. The '70s were great times!! Too bad I wasn't born then.

This 1977 song from his greatest album "Aida" is my favorite. For those who don't know it, I suggest listening to it multiple times and then leaving a comment. A very underrated song but it's not the only one by Rino (try listening to "Aida", "Cerco", "La festa di Maria", "Nel letto di Lucia", "E io ci sto" for example). The lyrics are very original and sung splendidly by our artist, who uses his voice in a rough and powerful way like never before. Rino is alone, he feels abandoned, and he blames those who hypocritically say "I love you," abandoned, just like a dog, the only one capable of understanding him and lifting him up. Indeed, the dog is man's best friend also because it doesn't speak and open its mouth to offend and incriminate you. Lastly, I don't understand how today old songs by Baglioni, Cocciante, and Laura Pausini are constantly revived, yet you no longer hear songs like this one. It's incredible how the Business works even in Italian music; it feels lonely... yes... alone like a dog, and then:

"...Who tells me "I love you,"
who tells me "I love you,"
if you take away the dog,
except for the dog,
all the others are bad,
almost not available at all..."

THANK YOU RINO, no one dares like you did anymore.
