THE REVIEW

That the problem is mine, I do not doubt, even though I doubt whether it is a problem...! That my theories could also apply to other genres is undeniable, and everyone should feel free to draw the parallels and deductions they deem appropriate, just as it should be clear that a band's choice to opt for a certain sound is not subject to constraints. However, I personally believe that the creative dullness present in certain power metal publications is not common to any other form of sonic expression. And that everything hides behind a presumed (or maybe, at times, real) instrumental technique or structural complexity (...???...) should not prevent the expression of severe considerations about the paucity and redundancy of what is often produced by similar formations.
That said, you can easily understand what the newborn Ride The Sky are dedicated to (even in the choice of the name, it's not like fantasy has triumphed...). Then elsewhere, they will tell you that the line-up is quite respectable and cannot be belittled, given that at the helm of the congregation we find drummer Uli Kusch (formerly of Gamma Ray, Helloween, and Masterplan), while on vocals there is Bjorn Jansson (coming from Tears Of Anger and with a past in Beyond Twilight), just as one can sing the praises of the other group members, on whom I won't elaborate. But my goal is to make you understand how "New Protection" truly has nothing to offer those who, in music, seek emotions, surprises, or non-stereotyped certainties! Here, everything is absolutely predictable, codified, devoid of personality, exclusively oriented towards the iteration of styles and stylistic elements now abused and drowned in the same sewer they generated (between classic heavy metal and grandiloquent melodic hard rock) and it is pathetic to see how musicians with such experience do not have the slightest desire to take risks, question themselves, and try to give at least a personal interpretation of the subject.

Summary by Bot

The review criticizes Ride The Sky's 'New Protection' for its lack of innovation and emotional depth. Despite the experienced lineup, the album is seen as predictable and stuck in overused power metal and melodic hard rock tropes. The reviewer regrets the absence of risk-taking and personal interpretation in the music.
