LA RECENSIONE

March 2013: the album that would become my favorite of that year is released.

For lovers of the genre, but not only, the first listen is a dive into Alternative R&B, full of enveloping and sensual atmospheres finely crafted by the Dane Robin Hannibal. What creates almost curiosity and amazement, richly enhancing the vibrations that follow for 35 minutes and 48 seconds, is the voice of the Canadian Michael Milosh. Discovering that such a soft and intense sound (compared to an exceptional name like Sade) actually belongs to a man... well... it was a surprise for me!

In this regard, I read that Hannibal and Milosh themselves enjoyed keeping their identities secret, first with the release of "Open" through an anonymous video on Youtube, in which the camera focuses on a young woman and an ambiguous dark silhouette presumably singing, and subsequently in the same album, on whose booklet no photo appears nor their full names.

And this instrument, so essential yet so unique, will be the absolute protagonist of the 10 tracks contained in "Woman". A tone that smoothly glides between strings and brass, funk and soul rhythms, minimal, brilliant, seductive; all wrapped in an 80s sound envelope.

Personally, I was fascinated by the elegance of "The Fall".

The next step was towards "3 Days", which opens with a captivating harp and continues with a compelling riff.

"Open", "Major Minor Love", "Verse", and the title track "Woman" itself are imbued with an intimate mood that makes you want to close your eyes and dream... or make love.

Lastly, appreciation for the lyrics, also signed Rhye and characterized by the same sophisticated musical sensations and sentimental feelings, so dear to the female universe.
