If "Rain Of A Thousand Flames" was an interesting and somewhat significant EP, but rather flat, dull, and overly pompous in various moments ("Queen Of The Dark Horizon" above all), this "Power Of The Dragonflame" arrives like manna from heaven to silence all those who considered them dead and "recyclers of themselves" after the glorious "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands."
In fact, the great Rhapsody surpass themselves with a very experimental platter, just consider, for example, the drastically different vocal tones between the epic "Lamento Eroico", the first song by our Italian warriors sung entirely in their mother tongue, and the fierce "When Demons Awake". In short, a Lione eager to renew himself. Furthermore, the guitar melodies change in many aspects compared to the past (and here it is worth mentioning the acoustic intro with a Spanish flair in "Gargoyles, Angels Of Darkness"). However, nostalgic fans, don't worry: "Power Of The Dragonflame" in its compactness and epicness will also offer you tracks in full Rhapsody-style, like the electrifying "Knightrider Of Doom", the epic title track, and "Agony Is My Name", a track much underrated by the public and critics, with a chorus that you'll find yourself singing in the shower. It is also impossible not to remember the folk-ballad "The March Of The Swordmaster" or the ominous "When Demons Awake", in short, guys, so much to savor!.
Final Verdict: exciting, adrenaline-filled, and tremendously epic!... Are you a Rhapsody fan and still don't have this album? Well… then what are you doing still at home in front of the computer?… RUSH TO GET IT, DAMN IT!
The title track, in my opinion, the best of the entire package thanks to the energy it conveys.
An album that should be recommended to lovers of power metal in general, but not to the many who have never tolerated Rhapsody.
