Before we begin, I want to remind you that in this review I will not talk about a homosexual... I will not talk about a heterosexual, and I will not talk about a bisexual, I will talk about a genius and his new little gem, why do I say little... why do I say little? Because Renato Zero's new album contains only 2 new songs which are “Sorridere Sempre” and “Testimone.”
The album opens with the unreleased track “Sorridere Sempre,” a profoundly deep text that promotes optimism and denigrates chronic pessimism and depression, a fairly catchy song with great lyrics but whose only flaw is the arrangement... I found it a bit “flat” in some parts, I understand that it's not possible to return to musical masterpieces like “Il Triangolo” or “Onda Gay” but something more could have been done.
The work continues with great classics like “Paleobarattolo” (a song that gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it) and “Erotica Apparenza” (a text where Renato expresses himself to the fullest in his creativity)... some songs that are not exactly fantastic are “Viva La Rai” or “O Dino O Sauro,” while textually perfect is “Nuda Proprietà” where we can remember Renato wandering the city of Rome with a thong worn inside out and a flesh-pink bikini.
At the end of the album, we find another unreleased track by Zero called “Testimone,” a song that textually I might like even more than the first unreleased track, but here too there is a slight flaw in the instrumental part that could have been better.
What to say about this album in the end? Great but not perfect, it more or less reflects Renato's career, with its ups and downs and with some additional unreleased tracks that make the album more enjoyable, for fans of the national Renato, I absolutely recommend buying this album and I also recommend it to those who don’t particularly appreciate the current Zero because here you can find songs of all kinds... both old and new.
