American trio from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in the late 1980s. Members included Mark Gentry (guitar/vocals), Brannon Gentry (drums) and Ian Chase (bass). Recorded for Sub Pop and released albums including Broc's Cabin and Mariposa; known for a psychedelic-tinged, guitar-forward sound.

Broc's Cabin was produced by Kramer (Shimmy-Disc) according to reviews; Mariposa involved producer Jack Endino. Reviews note a cover of "Ain't No Telling" on Mariposa and repeatedly describe a saturated wah-wah guitar tone and Hendrixian influences.

Two DeBaser reviews highlight Rein Sanction's psychedelic-tinged alternative rock and distinctive wah-wah-saturated guitar tone. The band is presented as a Jacksonville trio who recorded for Sub Pop and worked with producers Kramer and Jack Endino. Recommended starting points: Broc's Cabin and Mariposa.

For:Listeners of psychedelic-tinged alternative rock, collectors of early '90s Sub Pop-era releases, and fans of guitar-driven bands from Florida.

Fundamental premise: Rein Sanction, despite being active in the early nineties, despite having long hair and flannel shirts, despite recording for Sub Pop, have absolutely nothing to do with "Grunge", if it even exists.

A notable mention finally for "Sideways Down", which has a chord progression that I love, but that, like the other songs on the album, ends before being concluded, a strange drift of talents that have not entered history but surely deserved more attention than they received.
