Fuck everything and everyone; fuck the money; fuck the world; fuck all of you; this is the message that Refused have always spread in their music, and listening to their work, you understand that their intention has been fully accomplished.
I will preface this by saying that I will be brief but thorough in this review, as just listening to this masterpiece will remove any doubt and put your soul at ease; mine is only an attempt to bring to your players an album that will leave you speechless.
Personally, I consider Refused to be the best Nordic band of all time, especially for the hardcore-punk scene.
Initially starting from a post-core music genre too saturated with names and sounds, in this third and final album of 1998, Refused, who later disbanded, arrived at one of the most accomplished forms of musical extremism ever heard, where hardcore, jazz, violins, and loops come together to create a mix as multifaceted as it is coherent with itself.
From the very first listen, you can tell that this blend of sounds, brilliantly mixed and integrated, is not out of place at all.
It's amazing to hear how electronics, jazz, and extreme rock come together to form a compact, compelling, exhilarating, and powerful sound.
You will jump to your feet at the mere listening of "Liberation Frequency" or "New Noise," among the best episodes of this hardcore manifesto.
Their disbandment represents, in my opinion, a lost opportunity to change the world, something Refused were about to do but would have been too burdensome for this corrupt musical world full of damn vultures who only think about making dirty money.
Advice for the listener; drink a gulp of milk, let it warm in your mouth, and smash your head on the wall many times until the milk now calcified on your lips turns into butter.
IMMENSE
To be honest, the artistic greatness of Refused did not coincide with adequate commercial fortune.
