Immense, magnificent, moving, splendid, superb, wonderful, unique, beautiful, absolute masterpiece, fantastic, impeccable, majestic, unforgettable, committed, every adjective is wasted on this work by C.S.I. Any sentence, any word, would diminish this album, its beauty cannot be described.

It’s 1996 and gathered in a farmhouse in Val d'Orcia, C.S.I. create their masterpiece. The theme of the album is the Balkans war, a delicate and far from easy topic to express, especially through music. Music, indeed, that of C.S.I. has always been attentive to global and social issues. Music seen and interpreted as a cry of rebellion against the current world, wars, and racism. The spokesperson group of an entire generation, the generation that refuses to succumb under the hits of bombs, or under the injustices of the powerful. Lyrics that denounce the world’s evils and the violence among men.

For the band, this is a magical moment; in fact, even on the composition level, the group has stabilized. Everything is in place to bring forth a jewel, a masterpiece. To best express what every member of the group feels. To let out a cry for freedom against the current world. The cover of '’Linea Gotica’' shows how C.S.I. left nothing to chance. The image represents a stained-glass window of Sarajevo’s cathedral destroyed by bombings that spared nothing and no one. Even a sacred image like the one represented on the cover is not spared from violence. An image that encapsulates the themes addressed throughout the album.

The album begins with '’Cupe Vampe’', and a distorted guitar accompanies Ferretti’s voice, which in this case is highlighted over the other instruments. The song describes how the pyres rise towards the sky and give place to these ‘dark flames'. '’Sogni e Sintomi’' is a subdued track with Ferretti’s voice initially warm, but then suddenly rises. A haunting bass characterizes the entire piece. There are no words to describe '’E Ti Vengo A Cercare’’ with the collaboration of Franco Battiato. A very sensual love song, impeccable, majestic, introduced by distorted guitars and with Ferretti excellently dueting with Ginevra Di Marco’s fantastic choirs. One of the most beautiful love songs in Italian music.

'’Esco’' is another gem of the album, with a breathtaking final part. The song’s theme is the ages that inevitably succeed one another. The final part is something exciting, unique with guitars in the distance dialoguing with the drums and other instruments. ‘'Blu’' demonstrates how the voice of Ginevra Di Marco was a fundamental element of the band. ‘'Millenni’' analyzes religion and the contradictions within it. ‘'L' Ora Delle Tentazioni’' is wonderful and offers 9 magnificent minutes with the piano accompanying Ginevra’s splendid voice. From Ferretti’s passion for horses comes '’Io E Tancredi’’ that tries to describe the symbiosis between a man and a horse. The album closes with '‘'Irata’’, a track with references to Pasolini, very inspired.

A socially committed album, without adjectives from a musical standpoint, unforgettable in terms of lyrics, splendid in the images it evokes, an absolute masterpiece, the most beautiful album in Italian music.

''Linea Gotica is an album of electrified guitars. Ultimately this is the sound of our time, as detestable as this time and sound may be'’.

From the very first listen, I was stunned: musically, they are brilliant and this album fully proves it.

A special mention goes to Lindo Ferretti's voice, which is wonderful and always manages to stir emotions.

"Linea Gotica is a difficult, intense, painful record, but also radiant and fascinating."

"An album to strongly discourage anyone who considers music a mere diversion, a harmless pastime."

Freedom is a form of discipline / never like now…

It is instability that makes us steady in the daily uprootings...

Few Italian albums are so genuine and intense as 'Linea Gotica.'

Ferretti’s bitter lyrics and Massimo Zamboni’s vitriolic solo seem to simulate the burning of the library of Sarajevo, millennia in paper lost forever.

"Maintain a proper distance from this album if you are looking for easy refrains or swirling guitar riffs, but anyone in need of emotions can immerse themselves in the listening of this CD."

"It’s an album made of words, words, words... to live!!!"
