Ehm... I mean, not that I am very strict with musical labels, but defining a genre seems necessary when you get to the Checkbox Stage with squares to tick. Well, wandering through various sites, the album in question is defined as "Progressive Sludge," "Metal/Post Hardcore," "Experimental," "Other," all the way to their MySpace where they even write (perhaps in a state of altered consciousness) "Punk." LastFM then, to avoid making a mistake, labels them as "Post-Rock," "Post-Metal," "Post-Hardcore"; And "Post-Anything" no, because with this crisis, do we need it? Meh.

Formed in 2005 from the ashes of In.Stora, Tesa releases this first full-length after 1 demo and 2 EPs, and they unmistakably demonstrate that they know their craft.

Released in February 2008, this "HeartBeatsFromTheSky" has quite an onomatopoeic title: indeed, the album is a compact block, an avalanche of sound that overwhelms with its slow advance; 32 minutes of sonic avalanche.

Distortions that suck in the atmosphere and a voice that tries to emerge but remains a heart-rending scream in the background, this is the first episode of the album, which then suddenly slows down again, dispersing the notes to introduce "II" where the dirty tuning dominates.

It continues through sounds that wink at stoner but are torn apart by effects and sudden pauses in which languid arpeggios appear or instrumental tracks laid on soft rhythms (for example, the initial part of "IV").

There are no titles, the tracks are simply numbered from "I" to "VI", reflecting the almost anonymous sobriety of the gray-oppression cover, where the title can barely be seen amidst the leaden brushstrokes and more than the name of the album it seems like the test of a psychotic eye doctor.

A good and solid album for this trio hailing from Latvia, made of obsessive atmospheres and distinctive distorted sounds.
