A valuable book for those who wish to use the resources of the mind... convinces and fascinates” (Loiuse Graf)
“A very important book that will be well received by millions of people who know they are not fully exploiting their lives” (Charles E. Short)
“It should help every reader achieve a fuller and happier life” (William Hamilton)

In this (strictly organic) New Age underbrush, amidst some miraculous mushrooms and something truly enlightening (rare, to be honest), a whole plethora of more or less cultural products emerge, informing us of holographic apparitions, Universe messengers, randomly prognostic seers, satanic cults, and anything you can think of.

Among the proposed titles aside from the various “Cure Cancer? No Problem”, “My Life with an Alien”, “The Degrowth Calendar”,“The Angels’ Soups” or the “Serial Medium Writing Course”, I was intrigued at a stall by this book “The Magical Power of Your Mind” by a certain Walter M. Germain (Edizioni Mediterranee - Rome) which, at first glance (and by reading the blurbs on the cover), seems to contain a bit of everything and beyond.

Beyond the truly horrific cover (a collage of the worst 70s trash), what perplexed me the most was the index:

Page 15: "The Magical Power of Your Mind"

Page 57: "Discover the Super Sense"

Page 87: "Develop the Memory"

Page 147: "The Power of Prayer"

Page 187: "Heal All Diseases"

...So, at this point, I said to myself: “Yeah, and then? Something else? and when’s the chapter "Jump Like the Ninja Turtles"?”

In short. This time I dissociate myself.

I distrust those who promise miraculous solutions in 10 pages or a little more. I distrust those who want to have an answer to all questions and do so in a pout pourri of clichés, delirious writings, dubious theses, statements, aphorisms, and quotes heaped together and assembled in a mountain of pages that jump from one topic to another without the slightest embarrassment and with a truly enviable audacity.

We are talking about important topics here, not jokes. We are talking about curing every disease, if you get my drift. And the author has the pretension to address such a thorny and delicate topic in just 13 pages and then move on to Psychology in the next chapter?!

Excuse me, but I am skeptical from the start, although I don’t doubt that controlling one's own mind is something that fascinates many, including myself.

But maybe I am biased, and the 40 pages read so far have simply bored and frankly disappointed me: enough is enough.

In life, either you mess around, or you talk about serious matters.

One does not mess around with terribly serious matters… One messes around with B-list singers, comedic booklets, government escorts, or Steno films.

Dabbling with the Bible, Cancer, or serious matters seems really inappropriate and tactless, especially concerning people who are unwell, have cancer, or are psychologically vulnerable to external influences due to their mental shortcomings.

Let’s put it like this: if I were a Human Case, I would avoid reading it!
