There are beautiful, ugly, and strange covers. Then there are others so normal that, for some reason, they catch the eye. For me, this is one of those.
Of course, I had never even heard of these Cosmic Vishnus, Portuguese from Barcelos, also because this EP is their first work and is dated 2009.
A pleasant discovery, nonetheless; a stoner-metal that at times plunges into the swampy lands of a psychedelic rock but always remains minimalist and instrumental as dictated by the lineup: guitar (Thiago Shiva) and drums (Veloso Brahma). The guitar sound itself evokes a massive and substantial doom, which, however, only sporadically emerges in the rhythms of Cosmic Vishnu.
Three tracks totaling just under 20 minutes, where the first "Iron Ships On The Silver Sea" is certainly the most original, but where the other two pieces also give hope for the full debut album of this Lusitanian group, which in the meantime has already abandoned the (beautiful, in my opinion) name, changing it to Aspen.
