Cobb is a nasty piece of work. A societal reject. Once a cocaine addict, now a habitual alcoholic.
He lives in the public housing of Newcastle with unemployment benefits. A filthy and stinking apartment.
Moreover, he’s also out of his mind and pulls all sorts of stunts.
Already in the first pages of the novel, at the exit of a supermarket, he is stopped by a security guard who noticed something suspicious.
Cobb also has another flaw; he’s a big troublemaker. So, he goes from insults to physical assault very quickly, pulling a sock out of his pocket filled with Duracell batteries and throws it at the nose of the unfortunate guy who falls to the ground unconscious.
In another situation, he suffers an affront from a snobbish jerk. To even the score, he pours turpentine over the bodywork of his new opponent's car.
While the paint sizzles, he throws a lit zippo inside the car to ignite a fire. Not satisfied, he beats up the guy trying to attack him.
Cobb's life is about to change. Change for the worse.....!!!!! A call from the past arrives.
It's Farrell, a fellow soldier in the army of Her Majesty, the Queen of England.
They hadn't seen each other for 10 years, since Farrell, the Irish redhead, had fallen in love and nearly abandoned Cobb to his fate.
His woman, referred to as "the whore," had abandoned him, robbing him of all his money, and fleeing to Newcastle.
With Cobb's help, the search for the slut begins.
Among dealers, ex-cons, and local murderers, the long chase begins. A novel without a moment of pause, a gripping plot, violence and punches, lots of punches. I devoured it in 3 days. The novel is written in the first person, alternating between the two subjects. The Wolves is a novel from the Revolver series. This series rocks.
Enjoy the read.
Oh, I forgot one thing. In the final part of the book, for a reason I won’t reveal, Cobb cannot speak. So, he communicates by writing on post-it notes. And he will pull one of his stunts.....
