Death. Pop. Romance. Rarely has a title been as fitting as in this third work by the Danish band Raunchy, where a wall of sound of Swedish death origins is interspersed with hyper-melodic choruses, all seasoned with a skillful use of electronics: elements that have already been extensively used by myriad other bands, but in this case, brought back by the six-piece originally from Copenhagen with a freshness rarely equaled.
In fact, if with their previous albums "Velvet Noise" and "Confusion Bay" our band had already stood out for a more melodic blend of what was originally proposed by Fear Factory, it is on the occasion of the album of maturity that, perhaps also thanks to the label change (from Nuclear Blast to Lifeforce, a label that seems to do well for many bands in an identity crisis, from Nightrage to our own Raintime) and the change of vocalist, the Danish combo reaches its compositional peak.
The start with "This Legend Forever" exemplifies well the new direction taken by the band that, although clearly indebted to the latest In Flames, leads to 48 minutes of absolute enjoyment for lovers of the most modernist melodic death, whose highlights in this case are named "Remembrance", "The Velvet Remains", and "Live the Myth".
To crown all this, we find the excellent production by Jacob Hansen and a well-made booklet, an ideal complement to an album that will not disappoint the expectations of those who appreciated the band's previous works or the new direction taken by In Flames.
