The Profile

Ratt are an American glam metal/hard rock band formed in San Diego in 1977 (as Mickey Ratt) and later based on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip. They broke through with Out of the Cellar (1984) and the hit single Round and Round, scoring multiple platinum albums through the late 1980s. After hiatuses and legal tussles, they returned with the studio album Infestation in 2010.

Core classic lineup included Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Warren DeMartini (guitar), Robbin Crosby (guitar), Juan Croucier (bass), and Bobby Blotzer (drums). Breakthrough single: Round and Round. Major 80s albums on Atlantic Records; 2010 comeback album Infestation released via Roadrunner Records. Originated as Mickey Ratt before shortening the name; associated with the Sunset Strip scene. Robbin Crosby died in 2002.

DeBaser’s reviews celebrate Ratt’s prime cuts and their 2010 resurgence. Out of the Cellar and Invasion of Your Privacy get praised for razor-sharp riffs and hooks, while the anthology Ratt & Roll 81-91 sums up their hit-making era. Infestation is lauded as a modern-sounding return to form. Stephen Pearcy’s rasp and Warren DeMartini’s guitar work are recurring highlights.
