THE REVIEW

Are you wondering what true rock n’ roll is? Here is the ROCK N’ ROLL OPERA: "It’s Alive".

Not even God knows how many things you can do with just three measly chords, but only four sewer rats from New York, the legendary Ramones. Sublime melodies, captivating, energetic, adrenaline-filled, all this with just an A chord, a D chord, and maybe an F-sharp chord (I’m guessing randomly). Incredible, right? And that’s not all, because 'It’s Alive' is pure, raw rock n’ roll. It's live, no recordings, re-recordings, producers covering your ass, tricks or various stuff, if you mess up you're simply screwed.

These 4 guys, now dead in the grave except one, were then super-wild, they didn’t think about anything except fun, sex, drugs and rock n’ roll. Back then, there weren't producers creating products in those magnificent '70s and '60s, and there was no MTV. THIS should be the work of a musician/band: live performances. They should all earn money through live performances, not LPs, just like Johnny, Joey, and Dee Dee did. The live starts right away with one of the best Ramones tracks, Rockaway Beach, and continues strongly with Blitzkrieg Bop. The strong point is also that most of their songs sound better live than on record, giving more punch and sounding more "distorted", thus more punk.

I Wanna Be Well, You're Gonna Kill That Girl, Sheena is a Punk Rocker stand out, but also the covers of Surfin' Bird, but especially Do You Wanna Dance?, one of the best. To calm the waters, there are also softer tracks like Today Your Love, but the best part is the grand finale with We're a Happy Family and Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue.

Thus, the greatest live performance ever is made by one of the greatest bands ever: The Ramones.

Ramones

Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in Queens, New York, in 1974 by Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, and Tommy Ramone. They helped define punk’s sound and look with ultra-fast songs, downstrokes, and leather-jacket iconography. After relentless touring and 14 studio albums, they disbanded in 1996 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
