Ralfe Band is an English multi-instrumentalist group led by Oly Ralfe (members named in the review include Oly Ralfe, Andrew Mitchell and John Greswell). Their debut album Swords was recorded at home in 2006 and released in Italy in 2007.

The band uses a lo-fi, home-recorded approach and draws from American and European folk traditions, mixing guitars, mandolins, percussion, winds and accordion with samplers and unconventional instruments. They released the album Swords (recorded 2006, released in Italy 2007) and are associated with the soundtrack for Bunny and the Bull.

The available review (Hal) frames Ralfe Band's debut Swords as a deliberately lo-fi, home-recorded record that mixes folk, rock, blues and country. The reviewer finds it curious, disorienting and inventive in spirit, but not a masterpiece. The album is noted for its eclectic instrumentation and playful, ironic approach.

For:Listeners of lo-fi and indie/folk music who enjoy eclectic, home-recorded albums with ironic flair.

It remains an interesting album, curious, strange, and disorienting to listen to with the same spirit with which it was created, without the fear of not paying enough attention to a potential masterpiece, which, at least for me, is not there.
