Turin and its music scene have been spoiling us for years. It must be the air we breathe or the vibes of a city that refuses to die despite the chains imposed by the local councils of the day, but it always has its reason. Yet another proof of what was just said is "Ocean" by Raintown, a debut that doesn't feel like a debut at all. It's truly a great record from every point of view. Starting with the offering, a modern alternative rock, captivating and delivering repeated emotions in every track. Musically, I believe they can easily hold their own, possessing the great talent of crafting potential singles effortlessly, whether they are ballads or adrenaline-filled, they always hit the mark. To this, we must add a singer - Angelo Bordonaro - capable of capturing the listener's attention on himself, with a voice that is warm and clear at the same time, and able to navigate through any situation with ease. But to single out one musician in such situations, I think, is quite wrong. It's better to pay tribute to the whole project, made of hours spent in the rehearsal room, a meticulous attention to detail, and a taste in music shared by not many. Few new underground bands have managed to impress me during this 2015, but Raintown are certainly among them, through tracks like "August 25", "Something For Me", and "My Freedom", simple and effective examples of modern rock with guts along the lines of Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, and Sevendust. Remember their name.
