THE REVIEW

Prologue: In 1974, Ritchie Blackmore decided to leave the legendary Deep Purple to give vent to his Renaissance power vein. He hired Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell, the three pillars of the Rainbow lineup responsible for two splendid albums (Rising, Long Live Rock 'n' Roll).

But let's talk about Rising. The album opens with Tarot Woman, a great song dominated by Blackmore's solos and Dio's high notes. The melody is catchy, score 7+. The next three songs, Run with the Wolf (score 6.5), Starstruck (score 7), Do You Clone Your Eyes (score 6), form a lively hard rock block that is very relaxing. Dio's high notes are very intriguing. Overall, these are good tracks, characteristic of Rainbow, evoking fantastic atmospheres, idyllic visions. Rainbow are clearly the forerunners of power and epic metal, just think of Dio's subsequent works. . In general, I don't feel compelled to spend many words on these songs that, as I repeat, are very catchy but nothing more. .

So let's get to the strong points. The first, Stargazer, is an absolute masterpiece. It starts with a solo guitar by the formidable Cozy Powell, then drums, guitar (by Blackmore), and the voice (by Dio) reach the pinnacle, the sublime crossing of these sounds enter the arteries and explode in the heart that beats to the rhythm of music, becoming tachycardic. I swear that when I listen to this song, I struggle to stay still (my blood boils). The song is an explosion of feelings, a mix of frenzy, energy, magic. This song is a volcano in eruption... score 9. The last song, A Light in the Black, very different from the previous one, constitutes a different path to the achievement of sublimity!!! Any other word is superfluous... Authentic Masterpiece score 9

Epilogue: After listening to this album, which I consider indispensable, I was almost sad at the thought that Rainbow never reached these levels of sublimity again, and that being born in 1983, I was unable to experience immediately the emotion of listening to this album, perhaps on LP...

Gosh, why wasn’t I born in the seventies!!!!!!

RISING came to light, a masterpiece condensed in 34 minutes of great music.

'Stargazer' doesn’t need much commentary... Ritchie delivers a truly indescribable solo, very epic and overwhelming.

"33.28 minutes of pure hard rock, where the guitarist reigns supreme with his epic riffs and solos."

"'Stargazer' is unanimously the highlight of the entire work: epic, magical, opened by a long roll from trusty Powell..."
