Radiodervish

The Profile

Radiodervish is an Italian group formed in Bari in 1997 by Nabil Salameh and Michele Lobaccaro, joined by Alessandro Pipino. They blend Mediterranean and Middle Eastern sounds with multilingual lyrics (Italian, Arabic, French, English). Their debut Lingua contro lingua won the Premio Ciampi in 1998.

Originated from the earlier project Al Darawish; music blends Mediterranean/Oriental sounds and multilingual texts; concept album In Search of Simurgh draws on Attar’s The Conference of the Birds; noted for intimate acoustic and refined studio arrangements; Premio Ciampi 1998 for Lingua contro lingua.
