THE REVIEW

An awkward race naked in the woods, as delicate and ecstatic as it is wild and scratching, unsettling yet liberating. Blurred hallucinations of esoteric fires, perception of mystical and shamanic chants: if in 2005 Raccoo-oo-oon from Iowa wanted to depict the experience of listening to their debut like this, I propose a round of applause.

We are essentially talking about free-falling experimental psychedelia, made of soothing melodies that evolve into caustic distortions. Characterizing and supporting the entire album are the almost tribal emphasis of the percussion, the guitar chaos launched in total freedom run, and the aimless wandering of improvisations at times set up like the most worthy space rock.

World music tortured by the most muddy noise, reflects in nature offering a listening experience as complex as it is. The compositions are indistinguishable silhouettes subjected to tortuous jams, and it is as if the task of giving them a shape is entirely attributed to the listener. But from this ascetic river, one always comes to the surface.

An album of monstrous scope, living off the undeniable charm of prismatic psychedelic music: descendant of the most hallucinated krautrock, tangled between electronic noise and vaguely infected by shabby jazz, alternating with its more cosmic and evanescent breaks can only offer a dissonant catharsis.

It is a twisted and elusive reality, but ultimately decipherable.
